Austria’s Stadtwerke Amstetten Selects the NES Patagonia Grid Modernization Platform

Networked Energy Services (NES) to supply Stadtwerke Amstetten with open, secure, future proof solution to meet the rigorous Austrian Smart Metering Requirements

San Jose, CA, November 4, 2015: Networked Energy Services Corporation (NES), a global smart grid market leader, announced that Stadtwerke Amstetten, a regional supply company in the wholly-owned property of the Municipality of Amstetten in Austria, has decided to install the Patagonia Platform and its leading AMI application. Stadtwerke Amstetten planned its rollout according to the Smart Meter Rollout milestones of the Austrian Law, IME-VO for its customers across its operating territory.

Stadtwerke Amstetten selected NES because of its successful long term experience and unique grid insight with its power line communications (PLC) implementation and its proven performance of delivering exceptional SLA´s via PLC. Stadtwerke Amstetten also wanted to get their rollout started with a BEV-certified meter that complies also according the IMA-VO under the current IME-VO regulations following the success of various Austrian References like Linz Strom, Stadtwerke Feldkirch and Energie Klagenfurt. They wanted to start the rollout in 2015 and also deploy a solution that provides a future proof system facilitating upgrades and supporting backwards compatibility, which is enabled by using the new Patagonia Metering Platform.

Stadtwerke Amstetten will be able to start using the existing meter platform and seamlessly incorporate new features in the future like enhanced AES-based security, new communication options for wireless technologies and additional smart grid applications. Some of the planned smart grid services include supporting Load Management, controlling Streetlights, and managing heating boilers.

Mr. Robert Simmer, Director at Stadtwerke Amstetten, stated, “We are looking forward to working with NES and their local VAR partner, Kapsch Smart Energy GmbH. We selected the NES Patagonia Platform because we wanted to select a company with proven, reliable technology that has delivered successful performance and has a clear future strategy and roadmap.”

“We are excited to be working with our partner Kapsch to enable Stadtwerke Amstetten’s grid modernization plans during its rollout and operation”, said Michael Anderson CEO of NES. “We have several successful smart metering projects with clear and measurable benefits in Austria and we expect to have the same success with Stadtwerke Amstetten in helping them meet the Austrian regulations and achieve their long term objectives through our proven, open standard, multi-application platform.”
