NES Invests and Dedicates Resources to Better Enable Transition to Smart Sustainable Energy

NES reshapes its software development centers in readiness for major expansion of its smart grid solutions

San Jose, CA, March 6, 2020: Networked Energy Services Corporation (NES), a global smart grid solution provider with the industry’s leading Patagonia Energy Applications Platform (EAPTM), announced today that it is reshaping its software development centers as part of preparations for major expansion of its smart grid solutions.

EAP provides the foundation for a suite of innovative smart grid solutions. These applications focus on increasing security through awareness of the rapidly evolving threats DSO face, reducing time and cost to deploy new smart grid solutions, reducing cost of long-term maintenance and cap-ex, increasing flexibility and agility of the deployed infrastructure, and increasing visibility of the performance and energy supply quality in the smart grid.

These solutions help DSOs achieve the next set of benefits of the smart grid beyond meter to cash. They help justify the business cases for on-going innovation and investment in technology in the low-voltage grid, making them as sustainable as the energy that we seek to consume.

NES is committing additional resources for software development to bring new products to market faster and respond to the current industry-wide gap in availability of products which focus on security, rollout and operations efficiency and low-voltage grid visibility.

Development of the next generation of NES EAP software applications and HES will be led at its Warsaw offices. Warsaw offers a concentration of talented software development resource skilled in the techniques required for innovation to thrive alongside product development. NES has had a software R&D center in Warsaw for several years, and this focus on Warsaw for ongoing and accelerated software R&D is central to the NES strategy for enabling the transition to smart sustainable energy.

“Our software applications are opening up new ways that NES can help drive towards a sustainable future,” said David Thomson, NES President and CEO. “We need to ensure that innovation is brought rapidly to the market to allow DSOs to better understand and thus optimize their low-voltage grids, make op-ex and cap-ex savings so that they can fund their ongoing programs of technology deployment in the smart grid, and protect themselves and their customers from cyber-attack. Our investment in our Warsaw software R&D center is key to that aim.”

“Over the last few years, we have found that Warsaw provides us with the talent we need and helped us deliver numerous enhancements to our software solutions”, said Andy Robinson, NES CTO. “We develop our software using highly agile practices, which allows innovation to be rapidly transferred into working and practical software solutions. This is essential in both achieving time to market and allowing us to co-create with our own highly innovative customer base.”
