Networked Energy Services Makes Major Growth Investment in India

NES makes a strategic investment by appointing Mr Sunil Mittal as Director of Business Development for India

San Jose, CA, May 20, 2021: Networked Energy Services Corporation (NES), a global smart grid solution provider with the industry’s leading Smart Metering & Energy Applications Platform (EAPTM), is proud to announce that Mr Sunil Mittal will be leading NES Business Development in India.

India’s Power Distribution Sector, with market size of more than 275 million consumers, is going through major reforms and energy transitions to bring increased efficiency. For these reforms, the main change drivers are adoption of proven technologies e.g., Smart Metering, Smart Grid, Data Analytics & various Integrated & Innovative solutions utilizing different business models. These technologies can help in reduction of Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) Losses for financial sustainability, improve the grid reliability, achieve better consumer services and, more importantly, smooth the energy transition.

NES, with its proven smart grid solutions and wide International experience of deploying 40 million smart metering points, has strategic intent to grow its business in the Indian Market. NES technology focuses on industry leading communications and security excellence, both of which are critical for the successful introduction of smart grid technologies as part of the smart energy transition. NES is intent on making its technology available for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) rollouts that are picking up pace in India. Projections are showing that over the next 5-10 years, the Indian smart meter deployments will increase by between 100M and 200M units.

This has major implications as DSOs (Power Discoms) deploy and then maintain a new highly distributed national IT infrastructure. As well as AMI, NES provides a suite of applications for DSOs to deploy these volumes, maintain the infrastructure at high levels of reliability, optimize the energy distribution grid and keep it secure with advanced threat detection and response solutions. This technology, introduced through local partners, will be a practical contribution to the massive rollout anticipated for India.

Sunil comes to NES with over 20 years of experience in energy projects in the Indian market. Sunil’s role will be to develop NES presence in India and develop long-term partnerships based on mutual opportunities for the introduction and deployment of NES and our partners technology.

“We are very excited to have Sunil joining our team”, says David Thomson, CEO of NES. “By placing NES solidly in India, we have the position to drive the smart energy transition where it makes a massive difference to global sustainability, carbon neutrality, and the uptake of locally generated energy.”

“India has its own challenges that can be overcome through partnerships between local and global technology and resources”, explains Sunil Mittal, NES Director of Business Development, India. “NES will work with local partners to ensure that its technology can make a difference here.”
